Yandell Thomas - 1/19/2010 Glenda Merle Yandell Thomas, 69 years old, passed away from an illness
on January 19, 2010 in Austin. Glenda was born on September 8, 1940 in Coal Hill, Arkansas to Woodrow Wilson Yandell and Nina
Merle McCarley Yandell. She grew up in Highlands, Texas and graduated valedictorian from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown,

teacher for several years. She also served at the Baptist Student Union (now known as Baptist Student Ministries) at the University
of Texas. She was a long-time member of Congress Avenue Baptist Church. Her passion was for her Lord and her family. In her
younger years, she was the neighborhood “mom” and her home was always filled with children and teenagers. When
grandchildren came along she said, “I found a place in my heart for love that I didn’t know I had.” In her
later years, her ministry was powerful prayers for the needs of others. Glenda personified the attributes noted in Proverbs
31: “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful
instruction is on her tongue. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: ‘Many women
do noble things, but you surpass them all.’ Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord
is to be praised. Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise.” She is survived by her
